About the 3D Printing & 3D CAD Training for Industry

Overview

This is a practical, applied programme built around what industry actually needs: engineers and technical staff who can design, prepare and produce parts without waiting on external resource, including parts that are difficult or impossible to produce through traditional machining alone. For many teams, this is the most compelling reason to build this capability in-house.

The course runs as a 2 or 4-day programme covering 3D printing operations and 3D CAD design end to end. It is relevant across automotive, aerospace, nuclear, energy, construction, medical devices and advanced manufacturing, and can be shaped around your production environment or a specific operational challenge.

This is not a classroom exercise. Everything you learn connects directly to how your business designs, iterates and makes things.

Make what was once impossible

Internal channels, lattice structures, consolidated assemblies, complex geometries that conventional manufacturing cannot easily produce. Your team will learn to design for additive from the outset.

Design parts that actually work

Move beyond off-the-shelf components. Learn to design and modify parts in Autodesk Fusion 360 and ZBrush for your specific application, material and print method

From file to finished part or product, faster

Replace slow, expensive external prototyping with an internal capability that turns around design iterations in hours. Master Cura slicing, print settings and workflow setup so your team can prepare and run prints reliably, without guesswork, rework or waiting on a supplier.

Operate and maintain your equipment

Understand how your 3D printer works from the inside out, including calibration, key adjustments and the maintenance routines that keep production reliable at pace.

Apply it to real production challenges

Tooling, jigs, fixtures, bespoke components, end-use parts, the course uses industry-relevant tasks so skills transfer directly to your workflow.

A free printer. A capable team. No dependency.

Every delegate that completes the full 4-day course or the 2-day 3D printer route, takes back to your business a FREE 3D Printer and lthe processes, confidence and a repeatable approach that embeds across your operation.

I recently completed the DWP-funded 3D CAD Design and Additive Manufacturing skills bootcamp with 3D 360. Coming from a traditional manufacturing background, I wanted to transition my skills into digital design, and this course provided the perfect bridge. The training focused on practical, real-world applications using Autodesk Fusion 360, and through the online section of the course, they go through all aspects of tech from the start of computer history to modern AI uses. The instructors were very helpful throughout the whole experience, and you can tell they have a passion for the things they teach. The structure of the course gave me the skills and confidence to start designing my own independent projects and building an online portfolio. I highly recommend 3D 360 to anyone looking to modernize their technical skillset. Thank you to the whole team for a fantastic training program.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in getting into 3D printing. I had online lessons followed by face to face lessons where I got to build my own 3D printer with the assistance of friendly and supportive staff. I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity.

After completing their 10 day 3D Printing course, I can confidently say it was worth it. Lots of information and skills I didnt previously have, I can now use to create the things I've wanted to for a while. I hope to be able to go far in the future with these skills now.

Your questions answered

Answers to frequently asked questions

No. The programme is designed to work for beginners and more experienced staff in the same cohort. Trainers adapt the pace and depth to the group.

Yes, subject to the team size, location and availability.  We can also deliver at our training facilities in Greater Manchester and Cumbria.

Our accredited 3D printing and CAD training is delivered as an intensive 2-day or 4-day course. The 2-day course focuses on core CAD skills and printer operation, while the 4-day “Digital Manufacturing” course covers advanced design for additive manufacturing, material science, and post-processing.

The package depends on the course duration. Participants on our 4-day Digital Manufacturing course or our specific 3D Printer module receive a 3D printer to keep as part of the training cost. All participants, including those on the 2-day CAD-only course, receive a comprehensive toolkit, training manuals, and lifetime access to our technical support community.

No, the 3D printer is included specifically for learners enrolled in the 4-day “Digital Manufacturing” program or those completing the 3D Printer module. This ensures that those learning the hardware side of additive manufacturing have the exact machine they were trained on ready to use in their own facility.

Autodesk Fusion 360 for parametric CAD and ZBrush for freeform modelling. Cura is used throughout for print preparation and slicing.

Yes. Tell us about your production environment, the materials you work with or the specific problem you are trying to solve, and we will configure the course accordingly.

Obviously that depends on the business and a number of other factors. However, many businesses recoup the training cost within the first few months or even weeks through reduced prototyping spend, faster design iterations and lower reliance on external suppliers. We are happy to talk through the commercial case for your operation.

It’s practical. You will build the printer, operate it, slice files and design models, then connect the CAD decisions to print outcomes so it makes sense in real classroom delivery.

Places are limited on each intake. If you want to build in-house additive manufacturing capability without a long lead time, the next step is a conversation.
